Meals on Wheels (MOW) is a program that furnishes frozen Home-Delivered-Meals (HDM) to “Home-Bound” senior citizens that are 60 years and older.

You must be 60 years or older and “home bound” meaning that you are unable to shop for food and/or prepare meals or have someone else on a consistent basis shop and/or cook your meals.

No, we encourage a contribution (donation) of $1.80 per day to off set the cost of the meals to allow Meals on Wheels to offer this home-delivered-meals program to other senior citizens. If you are not able financially to contribute all or part of the encouraged contribution you will not be denied meals.

You can call (408) 350-3246 and a Meals on Wheels’ Nutrition Coordinator will conduct a confidential phone eligibility assessment and follow through with a mandated home-visit assessment within 2 working days to determine your final eligibility.

Once you are determine eligible our home meal delivery vendor will assign you a specific day and time (once per week) to receive your seven frozen and seven packaged meals along with a bag of fruit, bread, and milk products, therefore your first delivery will be within one week.

The delivery driver routes are set for specific areas to receive their deliveries at a specific day of week and time (i.e... Tuesday – 10:00 A.M.) therefore you can not change your delivery time or day. To ensure that you are available to receive and sign for the meal delivery if it is delivered early or late you must also agree to be available one hour before and one hour after your assigned delivery time.

Council on Aging Silicon Valley will loan you a micro-wave unit.

Every two weeks, you will receive a blue self-addressed and stamped envelope from your delivery driver. Make a check or money order payable to Santa Clara County Meals on Wheels. Do not send cash. Place your check or money order in the blue contribution envelope and mail.
